Chapter 11: After Midnight
After midnight the club shut off every light but the one over sheet two, and four men spread their parkas over the ice.
They laid them side by side in a rectangle, down jackets and wool coats and Dale's old canvas barn coat.
Soon the frozen surface was covered and soft.
Our breath hung in white clouds under the single lamp.
I stood at the edge in a long wool coat and nothing else.
"Thursday night," Leif said.
"League is canceled. I told them the Zamboni's broken."
"We don't own a Zamboni," Nils said.
"Then they'll never check," Leif said.
I dropped the coat.
The cold hit my skin all at once.
I stood naked on the ice in front of four men who could not stop looking at me.
"Who's first?" I said.
"Gunnar," Dale said.
"He earned it."
Gunnar came to me across the parkas in his socks.
He took my face in both hands and kissed me, deeply, with his cold nose against mine and his beard stiff with frost.
He lowered me to the pile of coats himself, and laid me down on my back with his hand under my head.
It was cold on my shoulders and warm underneath.
Gunnar knelt between my knees and opened his jeans.
His cock sprang out thick and hard.
I sat up first and took the head of it into my mouth.
I licked around it until he swore and his hand curled into my hair.
He tasted of soap and skin.
"Enough," he said, hoarsely.
"I want to be in you for this."
I lay back, and I wrapped my legs around his waist.
He hooked my knee over his elbow and bent me open, and the angle went deeper.
"Look at me," I said.
"Say my name."
"Britt," he said, and pushed into me.
He went in slowly, all the way.
I gasped, and the sound echoed off the boards.
He braced his forearms either side of my head and moved, in long slow strokes, watching my face, with his breath steaming over me.
