I did not kiss Brock Tennant.

I held up the phone for Cam and Jude, and I said, "He wants me to come to him."

"So I'm going to make him come to me."

Cam looked at the text and cracked his knuckles.

"No," I said.

"You are both going to stand at the back of my chemistry lecture tomorrow, and you are not going to touch him."

"What if he touches you?" Cam asked.

"Then you can put him in a headlock," I said.

"Gently."

At ten the next morning I stood outside the lecture hall doors with a trash bag in my fist.

A fresh batch of flyers was taped up and down the hallway, and I peeled them off one at a time.

A girl I had never met came out of the bathroom and started pulling them off the opposite wall.

"My sister went through this," she said, and handed me an armful.

"Good luck."

A boy in a lacrosse hoodie ripped three down without being asked, and then looked around guiltily.
