Chapter 21: The Bonding

The rite was older than the keep.

It asked for a window open to the moon, and bare skin, and nothing else.

Conrad stood in the middle of his tower room with the full moon laid across the floor in a white square.

He had taken off his shirt and boots.

He waited, and I understood that he would wait all night if I wanted him to.

I shut the door and shot the bolt.

"Sit on the bed," I said.

His eyebrows rose.

"Saskia."

"Sit."

He sat on the edge of the great bed, with his hands on his knees and the moon on his shoulders.

I let the black gown go over my head.

It dropped, and I stepped out of it in the white light, and I watched his eyes follow every inch.

"Hazel will be pleased," he said hoarsely. "She sewed that for tonight."

"Hazel can have it back in the morning."

I walked to him and put one knee on the bed beside his thigh.

Then the other.

I settled over his lap, with my hands in his hair and his cock hard against me through his trousers.

He drew a breath that shook.

"Tonight I lead," I said.

"Yes."

"You don't move unless I say."

His hands tightened on his knees.

"As you wish, Luna."

The word went through me hot and low.

I kissed him.

I kissed his scar first, the pale line through his lower lip, and then his mouth, deep and slow, until he groaned and his hips pushed up under me.

"Not yet," I said.

I pulled back and looked at him.

His eyes were silver and his chest was heaving, and he kept his hands where I had put them.

I reached down and undid his trousers.
