Chapter 18: Garage Apartment

He undressed me by the light of the window, and he did it slowly.

He started with my boots.

He unlaced each one and set it by the bed.

Then he knelt in front of me and slid his hands up under my sweater, over my ribs, and drew it off over my head.

"Hold still," he said.

"I'm trying."

"Try harder."

His mouth found the inside of my wrist, then the crook of my elbow, then my collarbone.

He kissed down the middle of my chest.

He unhooked my bra with one finger and pulled it away, and he looked at me for a long, quiet moment.

I had never been looked at that way.

Kent had looked at me like a woman he was being polite to.

Rafe looked at me like a man who could not believe he was allowed.

"You're shaking," I said.

"So are you."

He laid me back across the bed.

He took my jeans off, and my underwear after, and kissed the inside of one knee and then the other.

He put his hands under my thighs and opened me with his thumbs.

"Rafe."

"I've thought about this since your kitchen."

His mouth came down on me, warm and slow.

He licked me in long, patient strokes, and when I tried to rock into him he held my hips flat to the mattress.

"No," he said, against me. "Let me."

"Please."

"I know."

He didn't hurry.

He took me right to the edge, so that my back bowed and my fingers tore at the quilt, and then he lifted his head and waited.

"Don't you dare stop," I said.

"Say it again."

"Don't stop. Please don't stop, Rafe, I need you to."

He closed his mouth over my clit and sucked, and I came so hard I saw white.
