Chapter 14: Stay

Liisa's POV

His mouth was on my shoulder, and it had been there for a long time.

I lay on my side in his bed, with the lake black in the window and the lamp turned low.

He lay behind me, long and warm, with his chest against my back and his knees tucked under mine.

His hand rested flat on my stomach.

It did not press or move.

It only held.

"You're awake," Mats said, against my skin.

"I'm awake."

"Good."

He kissed the knob at the top of my shoulder and moved a slow inch along it.

I felt every day of the last twenty-four hours in the way my body had gone loose.

I pushed back into him, and found him hard against the cleft of my ass, hot and patient.

"You've been like that since dinner," I said.

"Since the kitchen. Since you sat on the counter in my sweater."

"It's a nice sweater," I said.

"It's a better counter."

I laughed, and the laugh moved through both of us.

I rolled my hips back against him, slowly, and he groaned into my shoulder.

He lay thick and hot along the cleft of my ass.

I rubbed against him in long lazy strokes until the head of him was slick.

"Careful," he said, in a rough voice. "I'm trying to go slow."

"Try harder," I said.

"You're a menace, Bridge," he said.

"You love it."

"I do."

His hand slid up from my stomach and cupped my breast.

He rolled my nipple under his thumb, slowly, once, twice, and the pleasure ran down my belly in a bright line.

"Mats."

"I know," he said. "I've got you."

He took his time.

He kissed the side of my neck, the place under my ear, the hinge of my jaw.

His hand left my breast and traveled down my ribs, and over the soft round of my belly, and into the hair between my legs.

I opened for him, lifting my top knee, and he made a rough sound in his chest.

"You're already wet," he said.

"I was wet in the kitchen."
