Chapter 8: Hold Still
"Left wrist," said Seo-wan. "Give it to me."
The King held out his hand.
He lay flat on his back on the bed mat, naked.
The quilt was kicked to his ankles.
The painted screen stood between them and the gap in the outer door.
She knelt astride his thighs, bare too, with her hair down her back.
The lamp was on the far side of the screen, and it made a low gold glow on his skin.
She laid two fingers on the inside of his wrist, where the pulse beat close under the skin.
"Ninety," she said softly. "You're excited already."
"You are sitting on me."
"I haven't done anything yet."
"You said my name in the hall this morning in front of the cook."
"I said Your Majesty."
"You said it like my name."
She smiled and kept her fingers where they were.
"Here are the rules. I'll count your pulse the whole time."
"When it reaches a hundred and twenty, I stop. When it falls back to ninety, I begin again."
His breath caught.
"You won't come until I say."
"Seo-wan."
"Doctor's orders."
She watched the words go through him.
She saw that he liked it.
"Yes, Doctor," said Tae-heon.
She leaned down and kissed him, slow and wet, and kept her fingers on the pulse.
It climbed.
She rocked her hips against him, rubbing the slick heat of herself along his length without taking him in.
He groaned into her mouth.
"One hundred and five," she said against his lips.
She slid a hand between them, took him in her fist, and stroked once, firm, from root to tip.
"One-ten."
"Please."
"Quiet."
She stroked again, and a thin drop gathered at the head, and she spread it with her thumb.
