Chapter 8: Slow Is Over

Declan's POV

The elevator rose through the four floors.

Freja's back was against the brass rail and her mouth was on mine.

She had both hands in my hair.

She kissed hard and without any doubt, and every rule I had made myself on that terrace went out of my head.

"You said slow," I said against her mouth.

"I did."

"You said it twice. You called me Your Majesty."

"I know what I said." She bit my lip. "Say it again, and I'll leave."

I did not say it again.

The doors opened on my floor and I carried her down the hall with her legs locked around my waist.

I kicked my bedroom door shut behind us.

I set her on her feet by the bed and put both hands on her face.

"Tell me what you want."

"You." She was breathing fast. "Everything. Now."

"That isn't a plan."

"Declan."

It was the first time she had used my name.

It went through me, hot and sharp.

I found the zipper at her back and drew it down, slowly, because if I went fast I would tear it.

The green dress slid off her shoulders and pooled at her feet.

She stood in front of me in a black bra and underwear and bare feet, with her chin up.

She was beautiful.

I had thought so on the terrace, red-eyed and furious, and I thought so more now.

"Look at you," I said. It came out rough.

"You're staring."

"I've earned it."

Her laugh was short and shaky.

She pulled my jacket off my shoulders, then my shirt buttons, one at a time, with her eyes on my face.

When her palms landed flat on my bare chest she shut her eyes.

"Oh," she said.

"Yes."

"It's worse. It's so much worse when I touch you."

"For me too."

I unhooked her bra and let it fall.

Her breasts were full and warm, and I cupped them and ran my thumbs across her nipples until she gasped.

I laid her back on the bed and kissed my way down her throat.

I did not use my teeth.

Every instinct I had said mark, and I kept my mouth soft, and she arched under me anyway.

I took one nipple into my mouth and she dragged her nails across my scalp.
